Stiver Engineering Helps Push Needed Texas Infrastructure Improvements Forward

The state of Texas is undertaking a number of long-needed infrastructure improvements, and Stiver Engineering is leading the way.

The latest issue of Tunnel Business Magazine features five projects underway in Texas, and Stiver provided services on every one of them. The highlight is a cover story on the Mill Creek Drainage Relief Tunnel project in Dallas.

The tunnel will bring needed infrastructure improvements and 100-year flood protection to areas of east and southeast Dallas that have been affected in recent years by severe storms. Stiver Engineering provided construction consulting services for the contractor prior to and during the tunnel construction.

Other featured projects include the Integrated Pipeline/Trinity River Tunnel project in Kerens, Texas, which involves building 150 miles of pipeline to transport up to 350 million gallons water daily. Stiver Engineering performed full design work for the IPL tunnel, including concrete segmented tunnel design, trench safety plan designs, pipe buoyancy and support calculations, shoring designs for the entry and exit shafts and ground improvements using jet grouting among other services.

Stiver also performed tunnel design services along with the designs for the launch and receiving pits for the Bois D’Arc East Fork Trinity River Tunnel in McKinney, Texas; liner plate tunnel and bore pit/access shaft designs for the Athens Integrated Pipeline Project in Athens, Texas; and similar services for the DWU Elm Fork Water Main Project in Carrollton, Texas.
