A contractor in Downtown Houston, Texas approached Stiver Engineering and requested our assistance in the construction of a pedestrian tunnel connecting the Heritage Plaza skyscraper to a proposed parking garage across the intersection of Dallas St. and Bagby St. We provided construction engineering by designing the shoring system for the excavation beneath the designated intersection in Downtown Houston. The shoring system was designed and constructed using soldier piles, wales, cross struts, road plates, and timber lagging to allow traffic to travel on a structural deck over the excavation.
