Manvel Central Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) Expansion Project

Description: The City of Manvel is planning to expand its Central Water Reclamation Facility (Central WRF) from an average daily flow (ADF) capacity of 0.5 million gallons per day (MGD) to 1.5 MGD and increase the peak 2-hour (P2H) flow capacity from 2.0 MGD to 6.0 MGD. The project consists of the addition of a new 1.0 MGD ADF Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) train to the Central WRF for the capacity expansion. Scope of work includes the following:

1. New Coarse Screen and Lift Station: One (1) mechanical coarse screen, screenings processing equipment; Three (3) submersible pumps, piping, valves, monorail; and other appurtenances.
2. New Headworks: One (1) gravity-vortex grit removal system, One (1) grit pump, grit processing equipment; two (2) rotary drum fine screens, two (2) screenings conveyor; and associated piping, valves, gates and other appurtenances.
3. New Odor Control System: One (1) biofilter type odor control system consisting of air supply fan, pre-filter, recirculation pumps, biofilter, and associated piping, valves, and other appurtenances.
4. New Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) System: Three (3) submersible pumps in equalization (EQ) basin, coarse bubble diffusers in EQ basin, two (2) submersible mixers in anoxic basins, fine bubble diffusers in pre-aeration basins, membrane modules in three (3) membrane basins, three (3) submersible Return Activated Sludge (RAS) pumps, two (2) Waste Activated Sludge (WAS) pumps, four (4) permeate pumps, four (4) membrane tank blowers, four (4) EQ/pre-aeration tank blowers, skid-mounted peristaltic chemical feed system, four (4) turbidity analyzers, piping, valves, gates, and other appurtenances.
5. New Ultraviolet (UV) Disinfection System: Two (2) vertical UV modules, finger weirs, coarse bubble diffusers, parshall flume, canopy, piping, valves, gates, and other appurtenances.
6. New Non-Potable Water (NPW) System: One skid-mounted NPW system consisting of three vertical multistage centrifugal pumps, bladder-type hydropneumatic tank, self-backwashing strainer, flowmeter, piping, valves, and other appurtenances.
7. New Aerobic Digesters: Two (2) aerobic digester basins including coarse bubble diffusers, three (3) rotary lobe blowers, piping, valves, gates, and other appurtenances.
8. New Dewatering Building: New building consisting of two (2) digested sludge feed pumps, one (1) polymer blending unit, one (1) belt-filter press, one (1) conveyor, tote spill containment, piping, valves, and other appurtenances.
9. New Administration Building: New administration building including electrical and maintenance rooms.
10. Electrical and Instrumentation: Electrical and instrumentation required for the construction and operational completion of the above improvements. Works consists of duct banks, power and control wiring, instrumentation, and site lighting.
11. SCADA: Overall plant wide SCADA improvements.
12. Yard Piping: Overall yard piping including valves, manholes, drains, NPW piping, cleanouts etc.
13. New Generator: One (1) new 1500 kW natural gas engine generator.
14. Site Civil: Overall site grading, paving, earth work, seeding and hydro mulching, plant outfall, landscaping, SWPPP, haul off native excavated materials, and other associated improvements.
