Our Story

Stiver Engineering was founded to contribute to the tremendous growth across the state of Texas and to meet the growing needs of the state’s contractors, industries, and municipalities. For over 40 years, our civil engineering company has collaborated & consulted on the design and construction of a wide range of commercial, industrial, and technical facilities, making us one of the most experienced and responsive structural and civil engineering firms in Houston. Today, Stiver Engineering provides engineering services to contractors, engineers, municipalities, developers, owners, and architects throughout the United States and Canada.

Our Story

Our methods of operation help to assure cohesion, resolve conflicts, and strengthen operations, and we do our best to use our talents for the betterment of our community. We routinely work with architects, geotechnical engineers, MEP engineers, surveyors and contractors to provide clients a high-quality consulting service. About Civil Engineering Company

John Stiver, P.E. / President / Principal Engineer

John graduated from Texas Tech University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in 48 States and the District of Columbia.

John has worked on over 6,000 civil and structural engineering projects since joining the firm in 2005. Many of these projects include detailed civil and structural engineering design, project management, construction engineering and site development services for industrial and commercial projects. John served on the board of the Houston Contractors Association Board from 2020-2022.

About Our Founders

Maury And Sharon Stiver

Sharon and Maury Stiver

Sharon and Maury Stiver founded Stiver Engineering in 1980 with one goal in mind: to offer efficient and innovative engineering solutions for clients. For over 40 years, Stiver Engineering has accomplished that goal, but the company’s quest to provide top-of-the-line services will never end.

The Stivers founded the company not long after earning their college degrees. Sharon and Maury hold diplomas from the University of Texas at Austin. Maury earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science in Environmental Health Engineering. Sharon holds a Bachelor of Science. Maury is a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, a member of the Houston Contractors Association and a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers.

Sharon and Maury established a stable foundation for Stiver Engineering with the idea of pushing the company forward for many years to come. Through values such as integrity, quality and expertise, the Stivers’ vision of excellence comes to fruition each and every day, thanks in great part to their son, John, who now serves as the President of Stiver Engineering. Sharon currently serves as an advisory director to the company. Maury Stiver passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023, surrounded by his family at The Delaney at Lake Waco in Texas.
